Sebring Colt For David Payne Racing

With Widden Stud’s Sebring unfortunately passing away earlier this year, the progeny of the Group 1 Golden Slipper winner will be thin on the ground over the next few years, and today during the opening day of the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, David Payne Racing purchased the top-priced colt by the stallion.

Consigned through the draft of Widden Stud, Lot 99 is out of Group 3 placed Redoute’s Choice mare Lucky Angel, herself a half-sister to the Group 2 winners Sportsman and Prisoner Of Love, the Group 3 winner Hoystar, the Listed winner King Of Prussia and to the dam of Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes winner Vanbrugh.

Purchased for $400,000, the brown colt is the fourth foal of the mare who has had two runners to date, both sons of Pierro with Cajetan a winner over 1200m, while Castel Sant’angelo was a last start half-length second placegetter.

Redoute's Choice as a broodmare sire is doing a phenomenal job, producing over 150 stakes horses including our very own dual Group 1 winner Ace High, as well as another 12 elite level winners including Levendi, Sacred Falls, Zoustar, D'Arengto and Kementari, while the Sebring x Redoute's Choice cross has produced six stakes horses led by Group 1 winner Amphitrite.
