Countess Marinov Impresses At Warwick Farm

Starting her career in New South Wales, Not A Single doubt mare Countess Marinov had a stint in Victoria with the Mick Price yard before heading back to Rosehill and the David Payne stable.

The change in scenery clearly proved successful for the four-year-old, winning impressively first-up at Warwick Farm on Wednesday in the Pro-Ride Handicap over 1400m.

Ridden by Blake Shinn, the Luskin Park Stud Racing (Mgr P F Whelan), Aston Bloodstock (Mgr W J Mula), Mrs R J Mula-owned mare was away well from a middle barrier before she drifted back through the pack to settle down with only three behind her in running.

The Grant Allard-trained Hawaiian Rose ensured that there was a solid tempo in the race which allowed Shinn to have the mare where she was comfortable.

One of the first to make her move, Shinn pushed Countess Marinov extremely wide before the turn where she travelled up to the leaders with ease before she simply kept going, showing a sparkling turn of foot.

Pulling away to record a facile two and a quarter length win over Fantasize (which can be viewed here), the victory was the third for the mare from 15 starts to date.

Congratulation and thanks to her owners who are great supporters of the David Payne Racing stable.
